Blogging Lesson # 1 – Stepping Stones

Blogging required me to follow stepping stones out of my comfort zone and a giant leap of faith.

Periodically, I find it helpful to check where I have been so I can see what I have done and decide where I should go next.  When I take the time to reflect, I often recognize stepping stones. I am in awe of the stepping stones that God has laid before me.

Looking back.  One day, even though I didn’t know a thing about blogging, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and start a blog.  Actually, I took the same step twice.

In December of 2012, I took a step outside of my comfort zone and signed up for a blogging tutorial with a 30-day trial offer.  I wasn’t comfortable adding another task on my “to do list”, but I felt that I was to share our travel adventure.  I also wasn’t comfortable spending money that I couldn’t regenerate.  After reading through the material, I became overwhelmed.  I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t step back but jumped backwards.
I cancelled the 30-day trial offer.  At the time, I was willing to take a step forward but I wasn’t willing to take a leap of faith. I had fears and doubted myself.  And I hate to admit that I didn’t even consider that God might provide the stepping stones that I needed to calm my fears and ease my doubts.

In April of 2013, I felt differently.  Not only was I willing to take a step outside of my comfort zone, but I was also willing to take a leap of faith.  I still had fears and doubts, but this time I prayed.  I prayed, took a leap of faith, and took my first steps to becoming a blogger.

Within two weeks of My Blogging Expedition:

  • I learned how to set up this blog and publish my first post.  I wrote and published post daily for a week.  Then
I learned how to upload and add pictures into my posts.
  • Along the way, I found the courage to share this blog with a few of my family members and close friends even though it wasn’t perfect.

Within a month of daily commitments, A blogging expedition that is helping me find who I am, what I want, and how I want to live.

Our story may only involve a couple on a marriage journey, a family on a travel adventure, and a girl on a blogging expedition, but I feel our story is for and about anyone who

When I was willing to step out of my comfort zone and take a giant leap of faith, I began to see that:

  • when I’m on the right path and stay in prayer, God provides stepping stones to guide me.
  • when I stay in my comfort zone, I’m not truly living but merely existing.
  • for me to truly feel alive, I need to live outside of my comfort zone.

In looking back, blogging remains outside of my comfort zone.  However, I can still see stepping stones and I feel my comfort zone expanding.

Looking Forward.  I created this blog to share our family’s faith journey and travel adventure across and through the USA.  The end of this blog remains a mystery to me.

I don’t know the outcome of this blog or if I will become a successful blogger.

Through this blog, my hope is to light a dream within you into a blaze of possibility and reality.
